LOCATION
Exclusive Apartments and Suites in the heart of Barcelona's historic centre
Set in a stately 18th century building, the Duquesa Suites enjoys a privileged location opposite the Port Vell (the old harbour), just a few minutes from the beaches of Barceloneta and Barcelona's lively Ramblas. Surrounded by important historical monuments in the picturesque Gothic Quarter, our hotel is an excellent base from which to enjoy the city's best cultural, leisure and gastronomic offerings.
Located in a historic building, which in the 16th century belonged to the aristocratic dynasty of the Dukes of Cardona and which was restored in 1850 as a residential building for the bourgeoisie, the Duquesa de Cardona Luxury Boutique Hotel offers you a cozy and elegant atmosphere, with a close and familiar treatment and a personalized service.
Built four centuries ago, Port Vell is the oldest part of Barcelona's port and is still in use today. It was the first stable dock in the city, where ships could dock and be protected from storms. Today it has been transformed into a promenade that stretches from the imposing Gothic building of the Drassanes Reials to the Llotja de Mar, passing through the Portal de la Pau, where the statue of Christopher Columbus symbolically points out the route to America.
Basilica of Santa Maria del Mar
This basilica, known as the "Cathedral of La Ribera", is the only church built entirely in the Catalan Gothic style and was the place of worship for shipowners and merchants in medieval Barcelona. Santa Maria del Mar was built in the 14th century and its structure consists of three naves with simple, towering columns every 13 metres, a space unrivalled by any other medieval building in the world.
Considered one of the most avant-garde areas of Barcelona, the Born is a place to stroll around, shop in its charming shops and enjoy a wide variety of restaurants. It is located in the Ribera district, a labyrinth of narrow streets that once made up the old artisans' quarter and is now home to artists, a unique mix of traditional and trendy bars, and an array of nightlife venues. As you stroll between modernity and history, make sure to stop in the Santa Caterina market, built in 1844 on the site of a former convent and remodelled in 2005, making it the oldest covered market in the city.
La Rambla, also known as Las Ramblas, is an emblematic promenade that runs through the heart of Barcelona starting in Plaça de Catalunya and ending in Port Vell. The promenade is full of people, newsagents, flowers, street performers, cafés, restaurants and shops. Near the harbour, there are often street markets, as well as caricature artists and painters. While walking down La Rambla you can see several interesting buildings such as the Virreina palace, La Boqueria market or the famous Liceu theatre.
Located in an elegant late 18th century building opposite the Port Vell, the Duquesa Suites offers an elegant and welcoming atmosphere with personalised service, and is the perfect starting point to discover the main attractions of Barcelona's historic centre, as well as the city's vibrant cultural, gastronomic and leisure offerings.
